We had to wait until the last class, even the last rider in the jump-off to see a BWP victory in Helsinki. Henrik von Eckermann seemed to be on his way to win this World Cup, but last starter Jur Vrieling catched the victory with the BWP stallion VDL Glasgow van het Merelsnest (Nabab de Rêve x Darco).
With the breeding product of the family Van Bunder, Vrieling was almost two seconds faster than von Eckermann and so led his stallion to the victory. Earlier this month, the pair also won gold in the Nations Cup Final in Barcelona.
Glasgow is a son of Wendelina van het Merelsnest. This mare is the full sister to Sapphire (BWP registered as Safari van het Merelsnest) and she is also the dam of the BWP approved stallion Edjaz van het Merelsnest.
